After awhile I will start again the attempt to write some blog posts here. Some could say I never started, since i had only 3 Posts before. But you know what. Writing is hard. Having a full-time job plus writing is even harder. That should not be an excuse, but well so be it. I am staring again, because I kind of feel that I have not contributed anything to the R-Community yet. After the past two years I wanted to learn a new programming language, first Java, than C#, well, and then Rust, Swift, Kotlin, Javascript, C, C++ and now Golang. So you might guessed it, I was in the loop of what is better and than debating, switching etc. The problem was I did not even start. My daily work is writing analysis scripts in R or Python, depending on what is needed. However, I feel, that I am good in R Programming, but I would never call myself an expert or an efficient R programmer. I think for that, I lack the the knowledge of the pillars of R and Python. So after thinking and debating what could I do, well…, I procrastinated again of course. Therefore, I will now declare here in the public, that I will contribute to a package, which will allow to use Golang within R-Packages. That is of course not my idea, because Romain Francois already started this under https://github.com/rstats-go. I will pick up “ergo” and try to grasp the things he explains in his blog https://purrple.cat/blog/2017/05/14/calling-go-from-r/. I have no glue about golang and how to make it available in R. That already puts me in a rut, but how else do we learn. I will try to learn each week a bit and mix this blog with some personal thoughts to kind of keep writing. I mean to be honest, this blog is probably read my less than 10 people :D . Well let the journey begin. Hopefully by the end of the year I am a bit closer to understand R and Golang better.
